El próximo 21 de marzo saldrá a la venta la edición 40 aniversario del álbum «Private Dancer» de Tina Turner, uno de los más importantes de su carrera y ganador del Premio Grammy.
El set de 5 CDs y un Blu-ray incluirá caras B, temas en vivo y canciones inéditas de la época.
La próxima edición en caja de «Private Dancer» incluye la remasterización de 2015 del álbum original, que incluía los exitosos sencillos «What’s Love Got to Do With It», un éxito número uno, «Better Be Good to Me» y la canción principal, todos éxitos Top 10 en Estados Unidos.
También hay caras B de singles, edits en single, versiones extendidas, y temas inéditos y singles que no formaron parte del álbum, como la versión de Turner de «Ball of Confusion» de The Temptations que ayudó a lanzar su regreso. Dos CDs con actuaciones en directo, en Chicago y Birmingham en 1984, completan el generoso set.
Uno de esos cortes inéditos, «Hot for You Baby», se ha lanzado junto con el anuncio de la caja. La canción, grabada originalmente para el álbum, se acabó quedando fuera.
«Private Dancer» también va a salir como LP sencillo y CD doble. Abajo se pueden ver los listados de cada set.
Además de la música incluida en el próximo set, «Private Dancer» (edición del 40.° aniversario) incluye un Blu-ray con versiones en 4K de los videos del álbum para los exitosos sencillos «What’s Love Got to Do With It», «Better Be Good to Me», la canción principal y otras.
«Private Dancer» fue el quinto álbum en solitario de Turner después de dejar a su esposo y socio musical Ike Turner a fines de los años 70. El abuso que sufrió durante su matrimonio dio lugar a una de las mayores historias de regreso a la música, ya que Turner rehizo su carrera y se convirtió en una de las artistas más importantes de los años 80.
Después de un descanso de cinco años sin grabar un álbum, Turner logró un éxito en el Reino Unido en 1983 con una versión de «Let’s Stay Together» de Al Green. Eso la llevó a trabajar en «Private Dancer», lanzado en mayo de 1984 y que llegó al número uno en todo el mundo, ganó varios premios Grammy y convirtió a la cantante, que ya tenía 40 años, en una de las estrellas más grandes de la época.
El disco multiplatino fue seguido por giras mundiales con entradas agotadas y otros álbumes de éxito durante las siguientes dos décadas. Tina Turner murió en 2023 a los 83 años.
